Patricia Gaddis Dent Price, age 95, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021, with two of her daughters by her side.
Patty was born Sept. 8, 1925, in Raymond, MS. She attended LSU-BR where she was a drummer in the LSU Marching Band and a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
In 1944 during WWII, young Lt. Price was sent from his assignment in Africa, where he served as a B-52 navigator in the Ploesti Air Raids, for a brief radar training in Virginia. Patty made an adventurous solo trip by train at the age of 19 to meet him at Langley Field where they married and had a brief honeymoon before he returned to service.
Patty enthusiastically raised her three daughters as military brats, enjoying the benefits of living, traveling and making life-long friends in numerous states, along with England and Germany.
Patty and Robert retired first to Cherokee Village, Arkansas, and then Diamondhead, MS before Patty moved closer to her daughters in Louisiana after Robert's death.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Robert Miller Dent, Sr. and Willie Belle Lee Dent; her brother, Gen. Robert Miller Dent, Jr.; and her adopted brother, Billy Dent, all from Raymond, MS.
Patty is survived by her oldest daughter, Patricia Jackson; grandson, Robert Franques; and three great grandsons; her second daughter, Lee Barrios; grandsons, Christopher Bean Binnings and Daniel Bowen Binnings (Allison) and granddaughter Bae Lee Binnings Black (Duane); and collectively five great grandsons; and one great granddaughter; youngest daughter, Dixie Rubin; granddaughter, Chelsea Rubin Hathaway (Ryan) and great grandbaby, Harrison Miller Hathaway; her nephews, Robert Miller Dent III and family of Raymond, MS, and Lee Dent and family of Biloxi, MS; and her sister-in-law, Francis Dent, of Bolton, MS.
The family will meet for a brief viewing at 11:30 AM, Thursday, April 15 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd., Biloxi. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM, at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave., Biloxi, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Lt. Col. Robert Young Price, veteran of WWII, Korea & Vietnam.
