Patricia Ruth Caramella passed away at Gulfport Memorial Hospital on June 3, 2012, following a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Freda Caramella and her sister, Isabelle Roberts.
She is survived by her two nieces, Lori Roberts, formerly of Biloxi but currently in Brevard NC, and Sharon Curry of The Villages FL.
Patsy, as she was known by her friends and family, was a lifelong resident of Gulfport. After 30 years of civil service at Keesler AFB, winning many performance awards and promotions along the way, Pat retired as a Personnel Staffing Specialist, GS-12. After retiring in 1986, she enjoyed visiting friends and family all over the U.S.--Washington, D.C., San Antonio, Fort Worth, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Raleigh, Baltimore, Memphis, Lexington,Las Vegas, and Phoenix. While in Arizona, she was thrilled to meet and talk to Richard Boone, star of the ""Have Gun, Will Travel"" tv show, as well as Lorne Green and Michael Landon of ""Bonanza"" fame.
Patricia has been a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, Gulfport and has served on the Administration Board, the Altar Guild, as well as NARFE. When she was younger, Pat worked as a USO Junior/Senior Hostess and even acted in a few plays at the Gulfport Little Theater. Her hobbies included dancing, knitting, crocheting, baking, and especially, caring for the many cats in her family, calling them her ""children."" She also kept up with her retirement friends, whom she enjoyed meeting monthly at local restaurants, as with as her beloved Club 47, with her high school classmates.
Patsy will be remembered by all who knew her as fun loving, kind and compassionate. She loved life and shared with her family her deep appreciation for the kindnesses of all those nearby who helped her-- from dear friends, to service providers and medical personnel. She will be sadly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
