Patricia Gaye Switzer Boatner, former long time resident of Long Beach, passed from this life to a better one on October 30, 2008.
She passed in peace with anticipation to rejoin Fred, her husband of 54 years, who preceded her in death on March 19, 2007. Patricia was the daughter of Hersel A. Switzer and Gaynel Presley Switzer of Long Beach, both deceased; sister of Rose Donaldson of Long Beach, and Cleveland Switzer of Hastings, MN; mother of Scott Boatner of Loudon, TN, Michael Boatner of Lenoir City, TN, and Lisa Boatner Swan of Chattanooga, TN and adored mother-in-law of Suzanne Boatner and Jack Swan. Grandchildren include, Jason and David Boatner, Kristin Boatner, Chase Reeves, Summer Hoglund, Rachael Ireland, and great granddaughter Taylor Ireland.
Originally from Long Beach, Pat had resided in Lenoir City, TN for the past 30 years where she was a member of First Baptist Church of Lenoir City, TN. Pat was a former Journalist and author of the 1988 Novel, """"All Our Tomorrows"""", also numerous award winning plays, short stories and poetry. Pat's writing associations included being former president of the Gulf Coast Writers Association; being a member of the Knoxville Writer Guild, and member and former Chairman of the TN Mountain Writers Conference. Pat has been a member for more than 33 years of a local writing critique group, the East Tennessee Writers. She will be sadly missed by her family and numerous friends, whose lives were touched by her love.
A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008, from 10am until 12'Noon at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach.
