Pat Harrison Peterman, Sr., age 91, of Gulfport passed away on January 12, 2009 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances E. Peterman; two children, John I. Coleman and Richard Coleman; his parents, Julius H. Peterman and Mary D. Peterman; his siblings, Margaret Alice Stewart, Julius Earl Peterman, Roy Russell Peterman, Arthur Homan Peterman, Leo Eugene Peterman, John Freeman Peterman, Ila Dean Scott, and Richard H.A. Peterman; his paternal grandparents, John Peterman and Margaret Moock Peterman; and his maternal grandparents, W.H. Dean and Alice C. Denty Dean.
He was a member of Gateway United Methodist Church, Gulfport. He was a graduate of Lyman High School where he was class valedictorian. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, 7th Armored Division, under General George Patton, and fought in the Battle of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, where he received the Purple Heart. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked as a construction contractor before becoming employed by and retiring from the U.S. Fish Hatchery and the MS State Fish Hatchery.
He is survived by his children, Annette Biksey and her husband, Harold, of Gulfport, Pat Peterman, Jr. and James aÌâÅCrickettaÌâ Peterman and his wife, Debby, all of Saucier; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Esther May Cowart, Mary Evelyn Workman, Douglas Lee Peterman and his wife, Jean, and Rudolph Carroll Peterman, all of Gulfport.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.
