Oyde Runnels

Oyde E. Runnels, age 90, of Gulfport, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, in Gulfport.
Mr. Runnels was born in Magee, MS and lived most of his life on the coast. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He retired from Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base.
Mr. Runnels was preceded in death by his wife, June H. Runnels; parents, Jim and Lena Runnels; and two brothers, Harlan and Leroy Runnels.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie Thrash and her husband Lary of Gulfport, Dottie Atkins; grandchildren, Tanya Cuevas, Timothy Thrash and wife Angela both of Gulfport, Lisa Humphreys of KY, and Kellie Lassiter of MO; eleven great-grandchildren, Emily Cater, Ryan and Bryce Cuevas, Kristen, Tatum, and Lainey Thrash, Seth, Samuel, and Sarai Lassiter, Jimmy and Nicole Humphreys.
A memorial service will be held at 4pm, Thursday, April 22, 2010 at New Hope Baptist Church, Landon Road, Gulfport.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Lakeview Nursing Home Activity Fund.
