Otto Victor ""O.V."" Thames, D.D.S., age 73, of Gulfport, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Jaime Leigh Thames, his mother and father Otto Preston and Lissie Thames of Stringer, Mississippi, and his siblings Jack Thames of New Roads, Louisiana, Ozie Myrick of Stringer, Mississippi, and Ann Gillogely of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He is survived by his wife Jane Davis Thames, his children Jonathan, Jeanne (Jeppe) and Jeremy (Andrea), and his grandson Oliver.
Dr. Thames attended Stringer High School and graduated from the Loyola University School of Dentistry. He and Jane were married in 1965. After serving on active duty in the Dental Corps in the United States Air Force, he and Jane moved to Long Beach. He practiced in Long Beach from 1968 until his retirement in 1989.
O.V. was an avid fisherman, and also enjoyed working with his dogs. He loved to argue about politics. He was a devoted and loving husband. He was a doting father, and his love for Jane was a great example to his children. His love was a constant in all their lives. He will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church or to your favorite charity.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 10 am until 12 noon at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd., Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon in the church. Interment will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
