Orvis Irwin Dodge, 83, lost his battle to lung cancer at noon on Sunday, June 17, 2012, at his home in Carriere, Ms.
He was born in Dixfield, Maine to Millard and Lura(Holman) Dodge. He graduated from Dixfield High School before enlisting in the US Army. He retired from the US Navy Seabees on November 11, 1989.
Orvis was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will always be loved and sorely missed.
He was an avid golfer and all around sports fan. His final wish was to be returned to Maine.
Orvis is survived by his wife of 58 years Margareta (Nagel) Dodge from Oberursel, West Germany; two daughters, Sylvia Cushman and husband Barry of Solon Me. Diana Williams and husband Richard of Carriers Ms.; four grand children Shawn Cushman and wife Leah of Warrensburg, Mo. Tanja Cushman and partner Jeff Adam of Minot N.D. Tiffany Chachati and husband Clint of Donaldsonville, La. Rachel Daughtry of Bay St. Louis, Ms.; five great grandchildren Baylee Cushman, Taylor Cushman, Devyn Cushman, Kyle Williams, and Olivia Chachati; and one brother Dale Dodge of Mexico, Me.
He was predeceased by a sister, Opal Tyler of Locke Mills, Me and one great granddaughter Brianna Gunton.
