Opal V. Gipson, 92, of Gulfport passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Gipson was born in Aurora, Missouri on September 8, 1918. She married James Gipson in Aurora on May 18, 1938. James and she lived throughout the United States while James served in the United States Navy.
She moved in 1967 and lived the rest of her life in Mississippi. She was a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church, Gulfport and Crossroads Worship Church, Lyman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Gipson; seven brothers; one sister; grandson, Daniel E. Luney; and great great grandchild, Kyrsten.
She is survived by her son, James R. Gipson, II (Cheryl); daughter, Judy Mitchell (Paul); sister, Reitha Lewis; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11213 Hwy 49, Gulfport.
The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm, Friday December 3, 2010.
Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Gipson requested donations be made to Crossroads Worship, Building Fund, 22331 Hwy 53, Gulfport, MS 39503.
