Mrs. Onita Collins Pennylegion, age 92, resident of Pass Christian, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, in Pass Christian with her family by her side.
Mrs. Pennylegion was born in the Cuevas community, here on the Coast, to the late Henry Oliver and Maggie Collins. She was a homemaker and was a former telphone operator for South Central Bell in Gulfport. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Starkville, MS. She was an avid gardener. Her flowers attracted many admirers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward David Pennylegion; parents; granddaughter, Wanda Paugh; great grandson, Drew Paugh; and 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Moffat of Ft. Valley, VA and John Pennylegion of Pass Christian; grandchildren, Jennifer Eyler of Westminster, MD, Robert Pennylegion of Fairfax, VA, Neta Pennylegion of Norfolk, VA, Richard Randall of Edinburg, VA; great grandchildren, Phillip Randall, and Catherine Eyler; sister, Dot Collins Brown of Bloomington, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2008, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach, where friends may call from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2008, at Riverside Baptist Church, on the corner of Espy Ave. and Red Creek Rd., at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow services at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach.
