Oney "Rocky Top" Herring, age 70 passed away in Pass Christian, Mississippi on July 5, 2024. He was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on May 16, 1954 to the late Turley & Vaughencil Herring. He was raised as a foster child by the late Elmer & Agnelia Ladner. Rocky worked with the State of Mississippi with DOT for 30 years, retiring at the age of 50 to be able to care for his beloved wife Wanda “Kay” Herring who passed away in 2016. He was also proceeded by a brother Anthony “Tony” Herring and a sister Yvaughen Dedeaux.
His survivors include a son, Steven Herring, Sr. (Missy) grandchildren, Steven Herring Jr., Sceria Herring & Savanda Herring, great grandchildren Carson Harrison, Aaron Cuevas & Autumn Cuevas.and a sister, Wanda Ladner. He also had so many other loved ones he left behind to cherish his memories
Since retirement you could always find “Rocky Top” and an abundance of family and friends on his front porch where it’s always “5 O’clock Somewhere” enjoying a cold Miller Light.
Rocky will be greatly missed by so many.
At his request there will be a family and friends graveside service on July 20, 2024 at 7pm for a sunset burial at Wolf River Cemetery on Cemetery Road.
