Ollie Herring Martin, age 90 and a resident of Laurel, formally of Kiln, died on Monday, October 31, 2011, in Sumrall.
Mrs. Martin was born in Silas, AL to George and Mattie Waites Herring. She was a homemaker, a substitute teacher, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Picayune. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, D.J. Martin; her parents, brothers, and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Danny Martin and wife Jane of Laurel; her sister, Mattie Byrd of Cuba, AL; her grandchildren, Suzanne E. Thornburgh and husband Ricky of Knoxville, TN and Danielle Martin of Hattiesburg; her great grandson, Nicholas Thornburgh and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Standard Sandhill Cemetery in Hancock County.
