Olander Joseph Shiyou, age 75, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2010, in Gulfport.
O.J. was a lifelong resident of Fenton, MS. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. O.J. was devoted to his Catholic Faith. He was a Charter Member of Knights of Columbus #7087, a Charter Member of Fenton Volunteer Fire Department, and volunteered his ministries in various other Church organizations.
Mr. Shiyou is preceded in death by his parents, Volker & Theresia Necaise Shiyou; his son, Kendall Shiyou and his brothers, Edward Shiyou, Clarence Shiyou, Nathan Shiyou, and Edgar Shiyou.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Ladner Shiyou; his children, Wendy (David) Ladner, Rodney (Stefanie) Shiyou, Braden (Regina) Shiyou, Yolanda Shiyou Leake, and Ladonna Shiyou (Ryan) Ladner; his brother, George Shiyou; his grandchildren, Desmond, Dustan, Drake (Brandi), Joshua, and Chance Ladner, Brandi and Kendall Leake, and Kimmie Shiyou, and his great grandchildren, Trey, Kelsey, and Anna Grace Ladner.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010, from 6pm-10pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln Delisle Road in Pass Christian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dedeaux, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Alphonse Malley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund, 14595 Vidalia Road, Pass Christian, MS 39571.
