Novilee J. Cuevas, age 72, of Gulfport, died June 23, 2007 in Biloxi.
Mr. Cuevas was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton Cuevas, Sr and Zadie Ladner Cuevas, brothers, Carlton Cuevas, Jr., Glen (Toby) Cuevas, a sister, Yvonne Cooper, and a nephew, Richard Graham.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Moreau Cuevas of Gulfport, children, Kerry Cuevas of Gulfport, Rex Cuevas of Saucier, MS, and Bridget Blackwell of Long Beach, step children, Dana Covacevich of Ocean Springs, and Donald (Lance) Miller of Clarksville, TN, a brother, Kevin (Connie) Cuevas of Ocean Springs, and a sister, Joyce Sterling of Long Beach. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 step grandson, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, and numerous nephews.
Mr. Cuevas worked at Colonial Bakery for many years.
Mr. Cuevas was an avid bowler and dancer. He loved to sit on his front porch and watch the world go by. His loving and kind sweetness will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
His children and sister would like to extend their gratitude to all of the VA Hospital staff who took care of him during his sickness and stay at the hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Thursday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Long Beach. There will be a gathering for family and all friends following the mass at Kerry and Lisa Cuevas's house, 12333 Charwood Ave., Gulfport, MS 39503.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Gulfport, or to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX.
