Norman Wallace Ramsay

Norman Wallace Ramsay III, (67), left his earthly home for his Heavenly home on December 24, 2012. Norman was born in Gulfport, MS, on August 1, 1945, to Norman Wallace Ramsay, Jr. and Corine Nancy Thomas Ramsay. Norman was a 1963 graduate of Gulfport High School where he was a member of the concert choir under the direction of Margaret Thomas. He was elected ""Best Citizen"" his senior year. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated with a B.B.A. in Marketing. While at USM, he was an active member of the Wesley Foundation where he met his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth Anne Hobart, of Avon, MS. He was also a member of the Committee of 100 (a campus Christian organization) and the Madrigal Singer and Highland Chorus. Norman remained an active and devoted fan of the USM music and athletic programs, participating in concert performances and attending athletic events whenever possible. Even while fighting leukemia, Norman faithfully participated in the Southern Miss Gulf Coast Civic Chorale under the direction of Dr. John Flanery.
Norman was lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities over the years. He especially loved singing in the choir and serving as a soloist. At the time of his death, he was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Gulfport. During his lifetime, Norman had several business ventures. His special gift for sales made him successful as a licensed agent in the insurance business.
Norman is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Norman Wallace Ramsay, Sr. and Etta Stewart Ramsay of Vancleave, MS and Charles Elmer Thomas and Sarah Purvis Thomas of Hattiesburg, MS. He is also preceded in death by his infant son, Joseph Kenneth Ramsay. Surviving him are his wife, Anne; son, Thomas Wilford Ramsay (Shirley), daughter, Elizabeth Corine Ramsay Howard (Doug) and granddaughters Laura Lynn Ramsay, Mary Elizabeth Ramsay, Caroline Ramsay Howard and Haley Anne Howard. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Pauline Ramsay Holderer (Thomas) , sister-in-law Phyllis Miles and many nieces and nephews. Norman and Anne were also blessed to have Daniel Ribero-Goncalves, an exchange student, as part of their family.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Edwin Davidson, Dr. Curtis Broussard, the staffs of Kare-In-Home Health Services and Odyssey Hospice.
Norman enjoyed the fellowship of his family, friends and business associates. He had an easy smile and could find goodness in everyone. He will be lovingly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 5pm-7pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012, at 11am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 5007 Lawson Avenue in Gulfport. Interment will follow at Evergreen Gardens in Gulfport.
