Norma E. Roberts, age 90, of Gulfport, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018.
Mrs. Roberts was born in Belleville, IL to Louis William and Selma Louise Veile Junck. She met her husband, George who was stationed at Scott Air Force Base in 1942. After a tour with the 8th Air Force he was reassigned to Scott as an instructor and they were married in 1946. The couple and their two children moved to Gulfport in 1958, when the radio school was moved from Scott to Keesler AFB. She worked as secretary at Pass Road Elementary School and was an Honorary Member of Pass Road PTA. Mrs. Roberts' church and church family were an instrumental part of her life. She was a Charter Member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served in many roles over the years. She served as Chairperson of the Worship Committee, Church Historian, member of the Choir, member of the Trinity Quilters, and dedicated member of the Wesley Sunday School Class. She was an active member of PEO, she enjoyed sharing her needlepointing and cross stitching with family and friends, and she made many friends at the ladies aquatics exercise classes.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Leslie Junck, Sherman Junck, and Shirley Balsis.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, George G. Roberts of Gulfport; children, Ellen Louise Roberts of Columbus, GA, and Gary Lee Roberts of Gautier; grandchildren, Haydn Roberts (Morgan) of Brandon, MS, and Winston Roberts and Quincy Roberts of Gautier; and great-grandchildren, Mary Milton Roberts, Sarah Elizabeth Roberts, and John Stuart Roberts.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 5007 Lawson Avenue, Gulfport, at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be held one hour prior in the church sanctuary.
A private committal will be at Biloxi National Cemetery on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church.
