Norma Bullard

Norma Jean Bullard, of Long Beach, Mississippi, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, May 7, 2017 at age 79 years in Gulfport.
She was born January 10, 1938.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett Dalton and Gladys H. Johnson; and husband, John Robert Bullard, of Long Beach.
Mrs. Bullard is survived by her sister, Faye Johnson Collins of Long Beach; brother, Dalton Travis Johnson (Marie) of Laurel; nephews, Jeffrey C. Collins (Sindy) of Long Beach, and Dalton Travis Johnson, Jr.; and niece, Kimberly Jean Johnson Smith (David) of Lumberton.
Jean was a graduate of Long Beach High School Class of 1956, and then attended University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg earning the degree of Bachelor of Science, School of Education and Psychology in 1960. She taught school in Long Beach and Picayune for some time. She moved to Anchorage, AK and she continued teaching, loving, and helping shape the young minds of children at Elmendorf Air Base Elementary School in Alaska for over 30 years before retirement. During her career, she earned many Teacher of the Year awards and other academic acknowledgements. Jean and John were married at First Baptist Church Long Beach in 1968. They were married for 44 years until his passing in 2012. Jean and John were members of First Baptist Church Anchorage where Jean taught a ladies Sunday School class and sang in the choir. She was very active in her church. She returned to Long Beach in 2002, and to First Baptist Church Long Beach.
Jean was a member of Long Beach Chapter #306 Order of the Eastern Star, Long Beach for 60 years. She was also a member of Good News Sunday School class at First Baptist Church Long Beach.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you and gratitude to Ms. Karen McKnight, her extraordinary, loving caregiver and daily companion, and also to her other caregivers that had come to know and care for Mrs. Bullard during her declining health. Also, thank you to St. Joseph Hospice in Gulfport for their loving care.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Long Beach City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church Long Beach Building Fund, PO Box 338, Long Beach, MS 39560.
