Nigel Eames Abbott

Nigel Eames Abbott, age 73 of Gulfport, MS, husband of Janelle Abbott, passed away in his home on November 14, 2011 surrounded by family.
He was born in London, England, the son of the late Captain Clark T. Abbott and Erica Copeland.
He was the eldest of four siblings. He married Peggy Cates in February 1960 in Myrtle Beach, SC and together they raised two children: late son, William T. (Bill) Abbott of Atlanta, GA and daughter, Suzanne Abbott of Atlanta, GA. He remarried Janelle Abbott in June 2006 in Gulfport, MS. He served in the United States Air Force from 1958 until 1978 serving in numerous stations including Turkey, the United Kingdom, Myrtle Beach, Warner Robbins, GA, and Dover, DE. As a Special Agent in the Office of Special Investigations he attained the rank of Master Seargent. Upon retirement from the USAF he held a career as a Federal Agent with the Department of Defense in the Defense Investigative Services stationed in Des Moines, IA, Albany, GA, and finally in Gulfport until his retirement in 2006.
Survivors include his daughter, Suzanne Michelle Abbott and her partner Jill Lynch of Atlanta, GA, wife, Janelle Abbott of Gulfport, former wife, Peggy Cates Abbott of Gulfport, brother, Geoffrey Abbott and his wife Peggy F. of Dallas, TX, his children, Ashley, Carissa and Trevor, sister Elaine French and her husband John of Sun Valley, ID, their children Eric, Duncan and Charlie, sister Lynette MacLeod of Vero Beach, FL and her son Ian.
In addition he is survived by Janelle Abbott's son Greg Hendry and his wife Ellie of Seguin, TX, their children Brandi, Jordan and Amanda, daughter Cindy Starita of Arlington, VA and her children David and Scott. Also surviving Nigel Abbott are Terry, Gale, Alan and Barry James of Diamondhead, MS, Geneva James of Gulfport, Melvin, Arnett, Margo and Hope James of Weatherford, TX, and Brian and Deborah Webb of Diamondhead, MS.
Nigel was beloved by all who knew him. A wonderful and loving father to his children, he coached Little League, soccer and swim teams as well as served as Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts. He was always quick with a joke and loved to tell stories. He enjoyed fishing with his buddies, classic sports cars, and the companionship of all his pets.
Burial will be graveside at the Biloxi National Cemetery on November 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM. A reception immediately following the service will be held at the Abbott home in Gulfport. In lieu of flowers please make charitable donations to the US Veteran Compensation Programs or the ASPCA.
