Nellie F. Combest – Shannon, age 93 of Gulfport, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Sadie Shoemake; seven siblings; husband, William “Bill” Shannon; and former husband, Gerald Combest.

Nell is survived by her children, Kay (Mike) Hill and Paula Kegley; four grandchildren, Ron (Amy) Kegley, Pamela (Marc) Thomas, Jason and Jeremy (Katye) Hill and five great grandchildren.

Affectionately known as Mimi Nell by her great grandchildren, she was born in Wayne County, MS, but has been a Gulfport resident for the past 38 years.  She enjoyed gardening and growing her flowers.  Nell often volunteered at Garden Park Hospital.  She was a current member of Michael Memorial Baptist Church. Mimi was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff of Summerfield Senior Living as well as the nurses with St. Joseph Hospice.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS. Funeral service will begin at 9:30 AM in the funeral home chapel with burial following at 11:00 AM at Biloxi National Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.riemannfamily.com
