Nancy Chatman

Ms. Nancy Louise Chatman, 77, of Long Beach, MS. died on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at 5:30 pm.

Nancy Louise Chatman was born on July 16, 1944, in Hancock County, Bay St. Louis, MS., to the late Elmore Watson Chatman Sr. and Ludia Jarrell Chatman Herron.  She was the eldest of 6 children. She graduated from Bay High School in 1963. After graduation she then moved to New Orleans, LA.  She then graduated from radiology school as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). She then went on to continue school and specialized in Nuclear Medicine at Public Health Hospital in New Orleans, LA.  After graduating as a nuclear medicine technologist, (NMT).

Nancy returned home to live on the MS. Gulf Coast. She resided in Long Beach MS.

She was then hired by Memorial Hospital at Gulfport to open their new Nuclear Medicine Department.  She remained Director of Nuclear Medicine at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport for 35 years before retiring in 2004.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Elmore Watson Chatman, Sr; mother, Ludia Jarrell Chatman Herron; Stepfather, Bob Herron; brothers', Richard Elmore Chatman; Clifton “Bubba” Ofield Chatman; sisters', Alice Garcia Taylor; Becky Herron Paulk; and nephew, Alvin Andrew Garcia, Jr.

Nancy is survived by her youngest brother, Elmore “Buster” Watson (Mary Ann) Chatman, Jr.; 12 nieces and nephews; 26 great nieces and nephews; and 34 great, great nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on March 27, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 141 Hwy. 90, Waveland, MS 39576.  Visitation is from 12:00 – 2:00 pm with memorial services beginning at 2:00 pm.  Interment to immediately follow at Bayou La Croix Cemetery in Bay St. Louis, Ms.39520.
