Nancy Putnam Baughman

   Nancy Putnam Baughman, 89 of Gulfport MS passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024.

   She was preceded in death by her parents Virginia Carlisle Putnam and Herman Jefferson Putnam of Starkville MS, her sister Joyce Putnam Parvin of Aberdeen MS, and her husband of 58 years James E. Baughman of Gulfport MS.

   She is survived by her daughter Cindy Baughman, Gulfport MS, her son Jeff Baughman, Seal Beach CA, daughter Angela Lerner, Montgomery AL, granddaughter Lauren Gambill (Bryson) and great grandchildren, triplets Claire Gambill, Sam Gambill and Grace Gambill, Wetumpka AL.

   Nancy was born in Meridian MS and grew up in Starkville, MS where her father was employed by Mississippi State University. She graduated Starkville High School and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition from Mississippi University for Women.

   In her early career she worked in nutrition for Hotel Dieu in New Orleans, LA. Upon moving to the coast, she held the position of Office Manager for American Linen Supply Company, Gulfport MS and as Accountant for the Gulf Coast Horizon Newspaper.

  She always enjoyed playing the piano and shared her gift with others by playing hymns at Trinity Bible Church. After retirement she could often be found in her garden planting vegetables and flowers or birdwatching. She specifically loved watching the hummingbirds migrate every year. She also enjoyed traveling the country and visiting various landmarks and national parks with her husband.

  The family wishes to thank the following for exemplary care, support and kindness: Vital Caring therapists Mike and Steven, Dr. Bill Erwin, Gulfport Memorial Hospital and the caregivers at St. Joseph Hospice including Michelle, April, Kristen, Tawana, Theresa, and Susan.

    A private graveside service and interment will be at Biloxi National Cemetery.
