Myrtice ""Nita"" Elliott Froman, age 87, of Biloxi, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011, in Ocean Springs.
She was born January 23, 1924, in Crandall, Mississippi, and graduated from Carmichael High School in 1942. After a brief stay in Meridian, she moved with her family to Biloxi. Nita worked for the U.S. Postal Service which was located in the current Biloxi City Hall building. She met a young pilot training at the Air/Sea Rescue School at Keesler Air Force Base and they were married February 14, 1946. The military sent them traveling across the globe from the Philippines to Italy until they retired in Ocean Springs in 1969.
Nita Froman was a member of First Baptist Church of Biloxi. Her greatest joys in life were her family, gardening, and her pets.
Nita was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Col. Howard W. Froman; her parents, Clarence Erwin and Ida Eva Elliott; and two sisters, Martha Fleming and Dorothy Rice.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (David) Stanovich of Biloxi; and a sister, Bonnie Jean (Howard) Pitfield of Ocean Springs.
A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi.
