Myrna Waller Cody age 86, born October 5, 1937 in the King Daughters Hospital Gulfport, Mississippi, departed this earthly life on September 18, 2024.
She lived in Gulfport until 1955 when she and her husband moved to Mobile, Alabama and thereafter resided in New York, Cape Cod and Florida before returning to Gulfport in 1964 after the death of her husband in 1963. She worked as a legal secretary from 1965 until 1972. In July 1972 she became employed as a court reporter for the Eighth Chancery Court District of Mississippi consisting of Harrison, Hancock and Stone counties. Immediately upon retirement from court reporting in 1998, she started working for the Chancery Clerk of Harrison County preparing the minutes for the Harrison County Board of Supervisors, until 2017. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, Captain Howard R. Cody, a pilot in Vietnam, whose plane shot was down, and his remains never recovered. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Bessie Ikerd Waller and David Floyd Waller, and her brother David Eugene Waller.
Myrna always said the most wonderful thing that could happen after becoming a wife and mother would be to have grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved children, Howard R. (Randy) Cody, Rhonda Cody, and Karen McGill (Aaron); five grandchildren, Howard Ryan Cody (Leigh Anne), Michael Chase Randazzo (Kendra), Raegan Randazzo Nagle (Scott), Conrad Russell Morris (Lindsey), Molly Morris Blackmon (Matthew); seven great-grandchildren, Zelie Acacia Cody, Caroline Grace Nagle, Sadie Ann Nagle, Julia Shaw Morris, Katherine Louise Morris, Noah Brooks Blackmon, and Nolan Russell Blackmon; two nephews, Shannon Waller (Cassandra) and Daniel Waller (Kelly), and 3 great nieces, Kierstyn, Paityn and Shandi Waller.
The family will receive friends 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 25,2024 beginning at 10:00 AM, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS. Internment will be at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
