MSgt Archie H. Polk

MSgt Archie H. Polk. U.S. Army, Ret, age 85, of Long Beach, passed away on June 7, 2012 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda J. Polk of Long Beach; a daughter, Rebecca Parker (Bert) of Atlanta, GA; five stepchildren, Glenda Hinkle (Larry) of Pioneer, OH, JoAnn Tickles (Rex) of Lynnwood, KS, Bruce Brittingham (Diane) of GA, Lisa Sigmon of Lutz, FL, and Tracy Diercks (Arne) of Oxford, MS; fourteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
A native of Jefferson Davis County, MS, Mr. Polk served in the U.S. Army during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, where he retired after twenty six years as a Master Sergeant. After retirement from the military, he was employed by the Colonial Bakery Company for twenty three years.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. His military decorations were many, including the Bronze Star for valor and the Purple Heart.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 11:00 AM until Noon at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport. A procession will leave the funeral home at Noon for a graveside service at 12:30 PM at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
