MSgt Charles W. Boss, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 8, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Born in Bryan, Texas, Charles proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant after a distinguished career as Personnel Superintendent. His military service was marked by numerous accolades, including the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, and the Air Force Achievement Medal.
Following his military career, Charles made significant contributions to the community through various roles, including his work with the D'Iberville Chamber of Commerce, Delta Airlines, and as a TSA Agent. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life, reflecting his desire to help and support those around him.
He was a proud graduate of William Carey University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. Charles was well-known for his engaging sense of humor and unwavering support for his family, always making time to cherish moments with them. An ardent Dallas Cowboys super-fan, he also relished spending afternoons babysitting and creating joyful memories with his grandchildren. His loving nature and generous spirit touched the lives of many who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charles's legacy will continue through his loving family, which includes his devoted wife of 36 years, Charlotte D. Boss; his children, Paul D. Boss, Jamie R. Woodall (Randy), Mallory D. Malley (Chris), Jacqueline B. Smith (Scott), Casey B. Speck (Cody), McKinsey B. Hendry (Brandon); his siblings, Larry Hipp (Josie), and Pat Boss; his grandchildren, Dakota Boss, Rose Boss, Madeline Woodall, Gabrielle Woodall, Luke Smith, Tommy Woodall, Logan Smith, Kaleb Hendry, Lincoln Smith, Marilyn Malley, Evelyn Malley, Joanna Hendry, and Lane Smith; and his great grandchild, Ava-Marie Boss.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Lela Blount, and his siblings, Jack Hipp, Robert Hipp, Leon Hipp, and Barbara Boss. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he has left behind.
Visitation will be held on April 11, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM at Michael Memorial Baptist Church, located at 15053 John Clark Rd, Gulfport, MS 39503. Charles will be laid to rest on April 14, 2025, at Biloxi National Cemetery, with burial services beginning at 11:00 AM.
In honoring his life, he will be remembered not only for his military service and professional accomplishments but also for his deep love of family and his vibrant spirit that enriched the lives of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Michael Memorial Baptist Church-Guatemala Missions, in Chuck's honor.
