Molly Ann Davis Hickerson passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the age of 72. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Molly was preceded in death by her father, Vollie M. Davis; mother, Jewell Odell Neal Davis; sister, Erma Davis Creel (“Sis”); brothers, Clayton (“Son”) and Everett (“Bo”) Davis; and nephews, Clay Davis and Everett Lee (“Junior”) Davis.
Molly, also affectionately known as “Molly Ann”, “Miss Molly” and “Molly B”, was born in Ferriday, LA and spent her early years living on the farm at the Ouachita River before moving with her family to Tew Lake in Jonesville, LA, where she attended Block High School.
Molly married Bill Bozeman in 1965 and together they had two children, Billy Davis “Davey” Bozeman and Melissa Ann “Missy” Bozeman. Although their marriage ended after ten years, Molly and Bill always remained friends and worked together to raise their children.
In the mid-1970’s, Molly married Walter “Buddy” Wilson and they settled in Horn Lake, MS, where she devoted the next decade to raising her two children and her two, newly acquired and beloved stepdaughters, Angie (Wilson) Morgan and Tracey (Wilson) Clinton. Molly and her new, blended family spent many fun-filled weekends camping and water skiing at Sardis and Enid Lakes in North Mississippi. She took the kids to Church Road Baptist Church in Horn Lake, MS, every week and made sure they had a good, home-cooked meal on the table every night. Molly was a fantastic cook and was famous for her fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and homemade brownies. She also loved making homemade ice cream and fresh baked desserts. Molly was known to have the fun house on the street and she hosted many “kid parties” for birthdays and other events. Every Halloween, she made her delicious, homemade beef chili with beans and served it with Fritos. This was always the first batch of chili of the season and her children still carry on this tradition today. In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, with the children grown, Molly worked as a waitress at Dale’s Restaurant in Southaven, MS. Known as “Molly B”, she was then famous for her spiked hair, good looks, outgoing personality, and zipping around town in her little, turquoise Geo Metro sports car. She was full of life and loved by all.
In 1995, Molly married Ronnie Hickerson and they settled in Southaven, MS. By this time, she had two grandchildren, Bruce and Lauren Bozeman of Southaven, MS, and would soon have three more, Alex and Jake Hughes, who lived in Kansas City, MO, and Sarah Hickerson, of Louisville, KY. She also adopted her grand-dog, Willy, a Scottish Terrier, and did her best to spoil all of them for many years to come. Molly loved and adored her grandchildren with all her heart; they were the light of her life and she took every opportunity to brag on and spend time with them, which included many trips to Kansas City. During the early 2000’s, Molly would spend time every summer at Table Rock Lake in Missouri with her children and grandchildren. She and Ronnie hosted many family gatherings at their home over the years as well. Molly was very special and always made it a point to include her children’s families in these gatherings, such as her ex-mother-in-law and grandmother to her children, Greachann Larkins Bozeman, her ex-husband and father of her children, Bill, and his other children/sisters to Davey and Missy, Ashley Bozeman Cloinger and Kylie Bozeman Ray, who had become close to Molly as well.
In 2011, Molly and Ronnie moved to Ocean Springs, MS, as Molly’s health had started to decline due to the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s disease. Ronnie, with assistance from Missy, supported and cared for Molly for many years before she moved to River Chase Village Nursing Home in Gautier, MS.
Molly’s survivors include her husband, Ronnie Hickerson of Ocean Springs, MS; son, Bill Bozeman of Southaven, MS; daughter, Missy Bozeman Hughes and husband, Steve, of Ocean Springs, MS; stepson, Jody Hickerson and wife, Laura, of Louisville, KY; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Bozeman Worsham of Hernando, MS. Molly was the loving grandmother to Billy Russell Bruce Bozeman of Southaven, MS, and Lauren Dean Monique Bozeman, of Hernando, MS; Alexander James Hughes and Jacob Michael Hughes of Ocean Springs, MS; Sarah Hickerson of Louisville, KY; and two great-grandchildren, Ophelia Moon Tutorow and Sebastian River Ward of Hernando, MS. She is also survived by her sister, Levy “Prue” Hutchins of Jonesville, LA, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, all of whom she held close to her heart.
In the coming weeks, the family will hold a memorial service in Southaven, MS, and interment of ashes service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Jena, Louisiana. Memorials may be directed to The Alzheimer’s Association and Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (CAF). RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., in West Jackson County is serving the Hickerson Family.
