Milton George Floyd, age 74 of Gulfport, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 8, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Floyd; and his brother, Melvin Floyd.

Milton is survived by his wife of 38 years, Helen Floyd; his mother, Lillie B. Floyd; his sons, Byran Barney, Milton Jeffrey Barney and Byrom Barney; his daughter, Lisa Caldwell; his stepdaughters, Tracie Hatifield (Jeremy) and Shay Brown (Noel); his stepson, Matthew Whitmore; his siblings, Mildred Keyes, Henry “Shorty” Floyd (Denise), Myrtle Franklin (Frank), Debbie Travis (Eric), Ingrid Payton (Bruce); his grandchildren, Milton Barney, Jr., Justin Barney, Tchoiya Clayton, Tamara Whitlock, Kain McCadory, Travis Floyd and Bo-cassius Caldwell; numerous great-grandchildren; his special friends, Bear Montgumery & wife; and a host of family throughout Gulfport.

Milton was a native and life-long resident of Gulfport. He was a graduate of the historic 33rd Ave. High School where he was an active team member with basketball, football and track. He went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. After serving in the Corps, he worked at Pittsburg Paint and Glass Industry, retiring after 38 ½ years.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman; loved training hunting dogs – beagles; and he also had a deep passion for gardening. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Canal Road in Gulfport.

Milton would want to tell his children, “A winner never quits, and a quitter never wins! Keep doing your best ‘til the end.”

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Kindred Hospice and The Pillars of Biloxi Respite Home Instead Care, for their care and compassion.

Milton will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Biloxi National Cemetery.
