Gulfport

Mildred "Lou Lou" Louise Ladner, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Gulfport on December 9, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on September 15, 1967, in Gulfport, MS.

She spent her formative years embracing the joys of family and community, which played an integral part in shaping the generous spirit that defined her. Lou Lou was known for her vibrant personality and dedication to every role she undertook, whether as a manager at Gulf Fresh Seafood, Assistant Manager at Colonial Thrift Bread Stores, Assistant Manager at Burger King and her favorite career was at Winn Dixie as a Certified Culinary Chef-she loved to cook. Her professionalism and commitment contributed to the success of these establishments, and she became a familiar face in the community, known for her warmth and willingness to lend a helping hand.

A proud graduate of high school who later earned her GED and pursued some junior college, she embodied the principles of hard work and perseverance. Lou Lou's volunteer work at Garden Park Hospital was one of her proudest accomplishments—logging over 100 hours of service which she was awarded an Honorary Certificate, until health concerns prevented her from continuing. Her compassion and selflessness shown through everything she did, leaving a lasting impact on those around her.

Lou Lou had many passions outside of work. She spent countless hours fishing and working on a shrimp boat with her father until the age of 18 and those experiences fostered a deep connection with nature and her roots. Her creativity flourished through her natural ability to paint anything naturally, a hobby that allowed her to express her innermost feelings and share beauty with others. She was also a devoted member of the Heritage Holiness Church on Highway 53, where she found faith, strength and support from church members and especially under the guidance of Pastor Kenneth Cuevas Jr.

Lou Lou is survived by her loving mother, Hilda M. Ladner; her cherished siblings, sisters, Dorothy M. Baker, Theresa D. Baker and Trisha Malley; her brothers, James L. Ladner Jr. and Rassie H. Baker. She will be remembered fondly by her extended family, which includes 5 uncles, 6 aunts, 5 nephews, 3 nieces, 2 great-nephews and 7 great nieces and her special bestest friend Willie Mae Neely of Vancleave.

She joins her late father, James (Red) L. Ladner Sr., along with her dear grandparents, Mildred and Archie Ladner, and Walter and Ruby Rogers, in peace.
