Mildred E. Geary, age 73, of New Augusta, MS, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 in New Augusta.
Mrs. Geary was a long-time resident of Gulfport and had been a resident of New Augusta for the past 12 years. She retired as the Accounting Supervisor with the 403rd, Civil Service, Keesler Air Force Base. She was a former member of Pass Road Baptist Church and was currently a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Petal where she was president of the Cavalier Senior Adult Group and a member of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class. Mrs. Geary was the past president of the MS NCO Association, and past treasurer of the National NCO Association.
Mildred was a God loving woman with a giving spirit, always putting others before herself.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Howard Chaffin and Dovie Strickland Chaffin; and her brother, Ernie Chaffin. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Charles """"Chuck"""" Geary, Jr. of New Augusta; son, Ronnie Geary; granddaughters, Dawn Swanger (Brandon) and Courtney Geary; great-granddaughter, Sophia Swanger, all of Gulfport; sisters, Kathern James of New Augusta and Shirley Butts (Thomas) of Gulfport; 6 nieces and newphews; and extended family, Buzz & Rose Sinopoli of Dunedin, FL and Jack & Mary Graham of New Augusta.
Friends may visit with the Geary family from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 12 Noon on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1123 Hwy. 42, Petal. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
