Mike Adair, 56, a former U.S.C.G. Licensed Captain, died of cancer, November 14, 2008, at home, surrounded by the people who loved him very much. He lived in Long Beach, MS.
Mr. Adair was born in Lubbock, TX and raised in Fort Walton Beach, FL, where his mother was a secretary with the Civil Service and in Arlington, TX, where his father worked. Mike started working on crew boats when he was in his early twenties and continued working on larger and larger boats, eventually receiving his Dynamic Positioning License after he moved to Mississippi. At his demise, Mike had worked over 30 years in the maritime industry.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Charles Adair, mother, Helen Fincher and infant granddaughter, Isabella M. Riggs.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Sydney Elaine of Long Beach, two children, Bill Riggs and wife Jada, Chris and wife Tina, three grandchildren, Deven, Kaylee, and Tyler Riggs, one older brother, Pat and one younger sister, JoAnne Messick.
Mike would like any donations be given to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
