Michael W. "Mike" Young, age72 of Gulfport, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Walker Young and Pauline Young.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Martha Young; his daughter, Janna Young; his grandchildren, Casey and Carissa Cabral; his great granddaughter, Arianna Carbral; and his sister, Priscilla Day (Wendell).
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, then served in the U.S. Air National Guard. He was a Loadmaster for the Tennessee National Guard and FEDEX while living in Memphis. Mike was one of the first SWAT team members to serve with the Memphis Police Department.
Mike moved to the MS Gulf Coast in 2003 and worked at S&D Coffee and Tea Company until his retirement last year. He was a charter member of the Parkway Baptist Church, Woolmarket, MS.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Parkway Baptist Church Building Fund, 16372 Old Woolmarket Road, D'Iberville, MS 39532.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Parkway Baptist Church, Woolmarket. Interment with military honors will be at a later date at Biloxi National Cemetery.
