Michael “Mike” Hanko, 73, of Long Beach, MS, passed away May 26, 2024 with his loving wife always by his side. He was born March 10, 1951 in Long Island, NY. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and retired from the Seabees with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was a Lifelong Member and past Commander of the VFW. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Doris Hanko, as well as his son in law, Robert Bogner.
He leaves his cherished memories to his wife of 49 years, Sandra Hanko; two sisters Kathy Sheehan and Susan (Dennis) Jones; his daughters Teresa (Mario) Stamper, Angela (Shannon) Walior, and Dori Bogner. He also leaves 5 grandchildren-Sara (Josh) Shouse, Lainie (Darren) McCauley, Christian Stamper, Brenna Stamper, and Ben Bogner. With one great grandson Lewis Shouse. And countless friends who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at Riemanns Funeral Home in Long Beach on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 12-2, with a get together immediately following at the VFW in Long Beach.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VFW Post 3937 in his honor.
