Michael Robert Metevia, 52 of Long Beach passed away Friday July 27, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Patterson Metevia.
He is survived by his father, Robert Russell Metevia, stepmom, Dianne Metevia, sisters, Christine Kovacs (Michael), Kemberli Burkey (Jerome), his wife, Michelle Shaddy Metevia, his children, Elizabeth Owens, Timothy Moody, Patrick Moody (Amber) and Brandi Holland (Joey), grandchildren, Michael Moody, Carter Moody, Christian Moody, Maelee Moody, Kayleigh Moody, Korbyn Moody, Kaleb Moody, Kody Moody and Savannah Holland, sisters-in-law, Lynne Holland (David), and Anna Bellagante (David), brother-in-law, Robert Shaddy, nephews, Jason and Brian Burkey, and a niece, Sharon Kovacs.
Born on October 27, 1965 in Michigan, he retired as a Construction Mechanic 1st Class after serving 20 years with the U.S. Navy Seabees having been assigned to NMCB-7 and NMCB-74. Throughout his military career, Mike gained several friends who he thought of as family and cherished his time in the military and spoke of it often.
As a child, Mike thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the Scouts until high school where he also played football.
Mike enjoyed spending time with family, especially family game night and that one time he pretended to be a mermaid. Many family vacations were spent camping, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors.
Above all, Mike was dedicated to the military, his wife, children, and grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at 11AM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME 19130 Commission Rd Long Beach with a visitation for family and friends from 10AM until the service. An online obituary may be viewed and condolences and photos shared at www.riemannfamily.com
