Michael E. (Eugene) Jenner Sr. lost his 5 year battle with Alzheimer's when he died on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Settlers Point Personal Care Home in Ocean Springs, MS.
Mike was born March 25, 1953, in Tampa FL, to Dorothy and Harold Jenner Jr. He attended Notre Dame Catholic High School in Biloxi, MS, where he excelled in academics and football, in which he played center until graduation in 1971. He then attended MS Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC), Perkinston MS, where he was a member of the 1971 National Junior College Football Championship team. During his second year at MGCCC, he was selected All-Star All State and a Junior College All American Football Player at the center position.
After college Mike excelled in the trades and was a master electrician, state building inspector, licensed general contractor, licensed HVAC contractor and the owner/operator of Jenner and Son's. He was an avid fisherman and served as the president of the MS Gulf Fishing Banks for many years. He worked tirelessly helping to establish fishing reefs along the MS Gulf Coast. Mike was a founding member of the Spiders Charity Golf Tournament Committee and the Southerners Community Relief Club, tournaments providing financial assistance to worthy recipients every year. Mike was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Ocean Springs MS.
He is survived by his son Samuel (Sammy) and wife Hollie of Biloxi; son Michael Jr. and wife Jamie of Ocean Springs; his grandchildren, Kayla, Noah, and Brayden; parents, Dorothy and Harold Jenner; his sister, Melanie and husband Larry Clark of Gulfport; his brother Mark, of Mary Esther FL and his fianceÌe Becky Montgomery of Pass Christian; his canine companion, Teddy. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends who'll treasure his friendship. Once you met Mike you had a best friend for life.
The family would like to thank the staff of Settlers Point Personal Care Home, Southern Care Hospice and care giver Ann Slusser.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Ocean Springs, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Per Mike's request his ashes will be scattered south of Horn Island.
