Merlin C. Ladner, 81, of Pass Christian passed away at home with his family at his bedside on Saturday, August 7, 2010.
He was a devoted, gentle and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many who will be sadly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delarie and Cevelia Ladner; his sisters, Clara McLeod and Nita Achee; and his brother, Norman Ladner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen Green Ladner; his son, Merlin W. ""Bill"" Ladner and wife, Elizabeth of Diamondhead; his daughter, Delarie Ladner Maddox and husband, Steve of Gulfport; his three beautiful grandchildren, Christian Ladner of Navarre, FL, Colleen Ladner Perez, M.D. and husband, Israel of Dana Point, CA, and Mary Margaret Maddox of Gulfport; his sisters, Valina Ladner of Gulfport, Wilda Moran of Pass Christian and Adele LaFontaine of Waveland.
Merlin was auto parts manager for Charlie Henderson Ford before going to Coast Electric Power where he retired in 1994. He was truly our ""Merlin-the-Magician."" He was an avid quail hunter and lifetime gardner. Merlin was a simple man of the earth who also enjoyed playing horseshoes and darts. He savored home cooking, and the loving comfort of his family at home.
Services will be held on Monday, August 9, 2010 at St. William Catholic Church, Pass Christian. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am with visitation for family and friends one hour prior to mass.
Interment will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery at Rotten Bayou.
