Melvin ""Pappy"" Papizan, age 68, of Long Beach, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at home.
Mr. Papizan was born in Crystal Springs, MS and was a long-time resident of the MS Gulf Coast. He retired in 2003 from the V.A. Hospital in Gulfport where he was a Recreational Therapist. Mr. Papizan was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Long Beach.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lizzie Whittington Papizan, father, James D. Papizan, Sr.; brother, James Papizan, Jr., and sister, Evelyn Papizan.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Emilie Papizan; 3 children, Shelly Peterson, Martin Papizan and his wife, Lisa, and Elleanna Perry; grandchildren, Ashley Torries, Sean Peterson, Ryan Peterson and Heather Papizan; and great-grandchild, Jaycee Foy.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach with funeral services to follow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the National Cemetery in Biloxi at 11 a.m.
