Melissa Thornton

Melissa  Thornton McArn Blanco, age 49 of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018, in Long Beach.  She was a native of Baton Rouge, LA.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Taylor; and her nieces, Amber Boone and Christian Thornton.
Melissa is survived by her parents, Elgen and Robbie Gay Thornton, Jr.; her children, Cory McArn (Ann), Megan Waller (Brandon), Kelsey Brown (Cody), and Kristen Hilbun (Josh); her siblings, Chad Thornton (Sarah), and Sandra Wolfe (Jack) Wolfe; her grandchildren, Cory McArn, Tristan McArn, Kaitlyn McArn, Tyler McArn, Riley Waller, Melia Waller, Skylar Waller, McKinley Brown, Piper Brown, Aria Hilbun, Avery Hilbun, Adelynn Hilbun, and Autumn Hilbun.
She was a homemaker and loved playing with her grandchildren.  She loved listening to music, dancing, laughing, and making everyone laugh.  One of her favorite things was driving along the beach with the windows down.
Melissa was a vibrant soul who loved everyone she came across and never met a stranger.  She was so full of life and just really enjoyed dancing, singing, and being silly.  Melissa was one of the kindest people that you could have ever met.  Her presence in a room never went unnoticed and you always knew she was there because she made sure of it.  Everyone knew her as "momma" and she was that even through her faults.  She was the most wonderful mom who had an entire heart made of LOVE!!!
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 15, 2018 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, with a visitation for family and friends from 12:00 PM, until the service.  Interment will follow at Finley Cemetery.
