Melissa Smith

Melissa Smith, 36, of Perkinston, MS, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 1, 2021.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Jacob’s Well Baptist Church, 29554 Vic Faye Road, Pass Christian, MS 39571.
Melissa was born in Louisiana to Harold smith and Pattie Dykes on April 27, 1984. She graduated from Hancock High School in 2003.
Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Harold Smith; grandparents, Frank and Shelby Volpe, and JoAnn Calvert.
Melissa is survived by her mother Patti Dykes and her husband, Craig; sisters, Dianna Smith and Brittney Kolstad and her husband, Kyle; brother, Blake Dykes; grandfather, Jarold Smith and his wife, Esther; aunts and uncles, Keven Volpe and his wife, Jeannie, Paula Hardin and her husband, Mike, Jarold Smith and his wife, Terri, and Tracie Penrod and her husband, Douglas; cousins, D.J. Arwood and his wife, Nicole, Christopher Arwood and his wife, Rochelle Hill, Clara Arwood, Brittany Smith, Nicole Derus and her husband, Aaron, Blake Schar and his wife, Lauren, Raychelle Schar, Kristyn Beebe and her husband, Trevor, Tiger Volpe, and Julian Desoto; and her nephew, Dean.
Melissa was often referred to as “Sweet Melissa.” That memory will go on, and thoughts of her will be cherished forever. Melissa had a giving soul and helped anyone that she could. She accepted the Lord as her Savior, and she constantly reminded us to put God first. She encouraged family and friends by sharing Bible verses that touched her. Our Sweet Melissa will live on in our hearts forever. We can rejoice that her body is no longer in pain, but she is safe and happy with our Lord.
