Melba McLendon Gilmore, 83, of Necaise Crossing, formerly of DeLisle, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 in Necaise Crossing.
She was a native of Leaf, MS and had been a resident of the coast since 1947. In the early 1950s, she lived with her family at the Pat Harrison Farm in DeLisle, where she enjoyed being a wife, mother, and homemaker. Then she later worked outside the home at Pass Christian Industries until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, and working outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Milton McLendon and Mittie Fillingin McLendon, and 2 brothers, Melvin McLendon and his wife, Betty and Milfred McLendon.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Robert W. Gilmore, Necaise Crossing, 2 sons, William Bryant Gilmore and wife Julia Ann, Necaise Crossing, and Robbie Gerald Gilmore and his wife Cathy, Long Beach, 1 sister, Mildred McLendon Dunnam and her husband Homer, McClain, MS, 2 brothers, M.D. McLendon and wife Laverne, Lucedale, and Mack McLendon and wife Aline, Leaf, MS, a sister-in-law, Ella Mae McLendon, Biloxi, close friends, Elvin and Martha Carnegie, Houston, TX, grandchildren, Kenneth Gilmore, Daniel Gilmore and wife Mary, Brynia Gilmore and husband John Ladner, Erin Gilmore Riggins and husband Chris, Amy Gilmore, and Caitlin Gilmore, great-grandchildren, Danielle Gilmore, Christopher Gilmore, Charity Gilmore, Julia Gilmore, Branyn Waltman, Dannica Gilmore, and Savannah Jane Riggins.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 15, 2007 from 12 - 2 p.m. at the Riemann family's GULF COAST FUNERAL HOME, Kiln DeLisle Road Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be in Necaise Crossing Cemetery.
