May Girlie Fitts

May Girlie Fitts passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024 at the age 76 in Diamondhead, Mississippi. Born on May 17, 1948, in Pine Apple, Alabama. May was a cherished member of a large family, one of 14 children to Monroe and Susie Girlie. May graduated from Moore Academy in 1966. She moved to Gulfport, Mississippi in 1978, where she would raise her three sons and spend the majority of her adult life. May career was marked by her compassionate nature and dedication. She worked in the jewelry sales at Wilson’s Jewelry from 1988 to 1995 before transitioning to Dr. Pierce Eye Clinic and later Saia Freight. She retired from the position at Gulfport Airport in 2011, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and service.

 A loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. May’s greatest joy came form her family. She is survived by her sons, Victor, Wade (Jenna), and Sam Fitts; her grandchildren Brooke (Vin) Carneiro, Bradley (Emily) Fitts, Michael (Mary Beth) Fitts, Nicole Fitts, Ashlyn Fletcher, Brodie Fitts, Harrison Fitts, Trey Broussard, and Madison Fitts; and her great grandchildren Landry Fitts, Viviane Carneiro, Jameson Rager, and Rowdy Fitts. She also leaves behind her sisters Sadie Davis and Doris (Mike) Durden.

May was preceded in death by her parents Monroe and Susie Girlie, and several siblings twin sister Faye Mcintosh, Velma Watford, Rosetta Nichols, Annie Lee Barley, Virgil Girlie, Mack Girlie, Lewis Girlie, and Melvin Girlie, Leon Girlie, Floyd Girlie, Gene Girley.

May’s love for plants and flowers, as well as her joy in Cooking for her family were well known among her loved ones. These hobbies were a reflection of her nurturing spirit and love for life.

Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport is assisting the family during this time. May’s life will be celebrated and remembered for the profound impact she had on those around her. Her warmth, kindness, and enduring spirit will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
