Max Hirsch, age 78, of Gulfport, passed away on April 5, 2012 in Gulfport.
Max was born in the Bronx, New York, to parents who came to America one month before his birth. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York. At 18, Max joined the Air Force, served in Korea, and retired after 20 years of service. He then went to work at the Post Office and finally realized his dream of opening his own tax business. Max opened Jackson Hewitt Tax Franchise in New Orleans East which he grew into many offices until Katrina decided to take most of them away.
Max met Anne while he was stationed at Homestead Air Force base in Miami, and they had 51 wonderful and happy years together. Both of their daughters, Debbie and Barbara, were born in Miami. After retiring in Bossier City, Louisiana, Max and Anne lived there until after the birth of their first grandchild. They moved to Hattiesburg to be closer to their children and grandchildren, then to Slidell, and finally to Gulfport in 2007. Max's whole life was his family, and he was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. Nothing brought a smile to his face more than being surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife Anne Nelson Hirsch, his children Debbie and Steven Goldin of Gulfport and Barbara and Tracy Napolitano of New Orleans, his grandchildren, Michael, Carly, and Russell Goldin of Gulfport.
The family wants to thank Dr. Wall, Dr. Blanks, and their staff, Virginia Baxter, and the whole Goldin family who Daddy was happy to call his family.
A graveside service was held on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Southern Memorial Park, Biloxi.
