Maureen Candace Newcomb

June 10, 1950 — December 25, 2022

Long Beach

Maureen McFaull Newcomb, age 72, passed away peacefully on Christmas morning at Ochsner Medical Center, Jefferson, Louisiana, following a prolonged illness.

Born June 10, 1950 in San Rafael, California, she was the daughter of Patrick C. McFaull and Maryrose Machauer and was the beloved wife of Donald R. Newcomb, with whom she was united in Christian Marriage on July 13, 1974. She cherished her roles as mother of Andrew P. (Stacy) Newcomb and grandmother of Ryker Isaac Newcomb, and would have been the same loving grandmother with her new grandson, Alexander Spencer Newcomb, who was born in early January of this year.

She was a Speech Language Pathologist with the Harrison County Child Development Center where she worked with special needs children and from which she retired in 2016.

She was preceded by her parents. She is survived by her husband; her son and daughter-in-law; her grandsons; her two sisters, Michele McFaull of Los Angeles, and Dale Maddox of Tucker, GA; her brother, Rod McFaull of Cincinnati, Ohio; and her step-mother, Josette Grace of Diamondhead.

Maureen had a beautiful soprano voice which she employed in the choirs or St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach and St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Gulfport. She also sang with the USM Civic Chorale. She was deeply concerned for the welfare of those less fortunate, whether a special needs child or an injured bird, and she enjoyed raising and releasing monarch butterflies. The last words she uttered in this life were, “Peace, Love.”

The family would like to express their great appreciation to the staff and doctors at Memorial Hospital, Gulfport and Ochsner Hospital Main Campus..

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach from 12pm – 1pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1pm.

Private interment will be in Pensacola at a later date.
