Maureen Claxton, age 78 of Ocean Springs, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in D'Iberville, MS.
Ms. Claxton was born in Broughton, England on March 28, 1940 and moved to the United States in 1961.
She loved animals, gardening, knitting, playing bingo and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ocean Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Claxton and Catherine McMillan Claxton.
She is survived by her six children, Gary Barrett, Connie (Kevin) Braun, Paul Barrett, Wendy (Randall) Leslie, David (Tammy) Barrett and Tonya (Mark) Hartnell; her eleven grandchildren, Morgan, Ryan, Brandon, Austin, Jacob, Seth, Jesse, Joshua, Kevin Jr., Nick, and Lauren; and seven great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all her caregivers at Greenbriar Nursing Center and Kindred Hospice for their loving care.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 4, 2019, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Ocean Springs, with a visitation for family and friends from 9:30am until the service. Burial will follow at Vancleave Cemetery No. 1.
