Mattie Roberts Peterson

Mattie Roberts Peterson age 79, of Bogue Chitto, MS, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023. She lived in Bogue Chitto, MS until she married Charles in 1964. Charles and Mattie then moved to Gulfport, MS, and made their home there for many years. She returned to Bogue Chitto a few years ago.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Peterson; her parents, LeeRoy and Myrtis Roberts; her stepmother, Willena Roberts; her brothers, Bobby Roberts, S.W. Roberts, and Clinton Davis; and her sisters, Pauline Hall and Ginnie Varnado.

Mattie is survived by her daughter, Sonya (Randy) Seals; her sisters, Inez Johnston, Linda Johnson, Glenda Allen, Louise (Tommy) Busby, and Janie (Gary) Hart; and her brother, Robert (Jennifer) Davis. She had many nieces and nephews.

Mattie graduated from Enterprise High School in Brookhaven, MS in 1963. She enjoyed singing about Jesus. Mattie was a former member of “Beulah Singers” and “From the Heart”.

Visitation will be held on at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Gulfport on Saturday October 7, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Funeral Service at 11:00 am, graveside to follow at Beulah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Ministries at 397 Brookhaven St, in Brookhaven MS 39601.
