Mattie L. James, age 94, of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2011, in Wiggins.
Mrs. James was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, in Gulfport. She was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital and was a medical technician receptionist at E.E.N.T., Gulfport. She loved to grow petunias.
Mrs. James was preceded in death by her parents, L.L. and Nila Saxton; her husband, Hailey James, her son, Billy Y. James; her daughter, Linda Cooley; and her granddaughter, Tammy Smith.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary James of Gulfport; grandchildren, Glenn Brady and wife, Liz, Gary James and wife, Teena, Rusty Smith and wife, Juanita, Randy Smith and wife, Teresa, Billy Coooley and wife, Michelle, and Staci Hensley and husband, Keith; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The funeral service is Thursday, January 13, 2011, at New Hope Baptist Church, Gulfport, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the service.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Gardens, Gulfport.
