Mary Hansford Carr Wilcox

Mary Hansford Carr Wilcox, age 86, of Hancock County passed away August 14, 2012.
She was born in Silver Springs, Maryland on September 8, 1925 to the late Hugh Turner Carr and Grace Daisy Belbin Carr. She was the beloved wife of Delmer E. Wilcox, now deceased.
Mary was a graduate of Bay High School and attended L.E. Robouin Vocational Technical School in New Orleans, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, JD Campus, and the University of Southern Mississippi. She owned and operated a number of businesses in Waveland, including, Wilcox Electric and Appliance Company, Eileen's Dress Shop, and Waveland Avenue Realty. She was a licensed realtor and was very instrumental in the development of Our Shopping Center in Waveland.
Mary was a trained and gifted artist specializing in oil paintings. She loved traveling with her husband and family, and enjoyed playing golf until the end. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and her cats.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 77 in Waveland, MS, and was a life member of the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, parents, her siblings, Francis Carr, Gloria Carr Adams, and Joy Carr Wesner.
Survivors include her children, James (Dorothy) Wilcox of Waveland, MS, Marshall (Angela) Wilcox of Waimauku, New Zealand, Karl (Sharon) Wilcox of Hancock County, MS, Eileen (David) Wilcox Dorn of Waveland, MS, and Celia Wilcox of Hancock County, MS; her siblings, Hugh Turner Carr, Jr. of Kiln, MS and Dianne Carr Garcia of Diamondhead, MS; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 10:15 am, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Biloxi National Cemetery.
