Mary Weems

Mary “Anita” Weems, age 76, a resident of Ocean Springs, MS and Fine Arts Instructor at St. Martin High School until her retirement in 2020, passed away in Ocean Springs, on March 3, 2022.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Willie J. and Ara E. Carter; her sister and brother-in-law, Romaine R. and Samuel Keith.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 57 years, Mr. Jerry Weems, her children, Stacey Weems Jones (John), Gregory W. Weems (Yolanda), Alicia Nicole Williams (David), Joshua B. Weems (Jessica), and Hannah Elisabeth Weems (Bryan); her cherished grandchildren, Shawn S. Jones, Devon S. Jones (Molly), Nathan D. Williams, Jesse E. Rosado, Elena M. Rosado, Austin n. Williams, Christopher L. Jones, Aislynn E. Patterson, Auguste R. Weems, Erlynn M. Patterson; and one very special great granddaughter, Madelynn Rose Williamson; a host of relatives and dear friends.

Anita was born in Columbus, GA in 1945.  She later moved to the Gulf Coast with her husband Jerry and settled into her life of raising a family, teaching Fine Arts at not only St. Martin High School, but also at MGCCC at the Jackson County Campus.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation for friends and family will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. until the 1:30 p.m. funeral service at Northside Assembly of God Church 14901 Lemoyne Blvd. in St. Martin. Burial will follow at Southern Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 90 in Biloxi.
