Mary Elizabeth Pierson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on February 16, 2025, at her home in Gulfport, Mississippi, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 28, 1942, in Gulfport, Mary cherished the life she built in her hometown, where she remained a dedicated member of her community throughout her life.
After earning her Associates degree, Mary embarked on a fulfilling career with the Naval Oceanographic Stennis Space Center (NAVO), from which she proudly retired. Her commitment to public service extended beyond her professional life as she became an active member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), even serving as the state president at one time. Mary was not only recognized for her career accomplishments but also for the compassionate impact she left on everyone around her.
Family was the heart of Mary's existence. She was married to her devoted husband, Donald Pierson, for an incredible 63 years. Together they created a loving home filled with joy and laughter. Mary is survived by her cherished daughter, Susan (Elam) Stewart, and her two sons, Donald (Donna) Pierson II and Christopher (Kelli) Pierson. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren: Joseph Cuevas, Elizabeth Sones, Cory Sones, Brandy Martin, Pat Martin, Amber Helms, and Keating Helms, alongside her great-grandchildren, Pierson Helms, Billy Martin, Lee Clark Helms, and Mary Alice Helms, all of whom she adored deeply.
Mary's strong family ties continued with her siblings. She is survived by her brothers, Cecil (Sue) Page and Alton (Lena) Page, as well as her sisters, Debra (Richard) Olier, Sandra Spooner, Arlene (Jim) Evitts, and Darlene (Dale) Evitts. Together, they shared memories that will forever be cherished.
In addition to her love for family, Mary had a rich tapestry of hobbies and interests that reflected her vibrant spirit. As a former Eastern Star Member and Rainbow advisor, she imparted wisdom and kindness to generations of young women, touching their lives in meaningful ways.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved father, Isiah Page; mother, Mabel Melvin Page; brothers, James Page, Tommy Page, and Larry Page; and sister, Carolyn Geiger . Their memories remain alive in the hearts of her family, who will carry forth her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience.
A visitation in honor of Mary will take place on February 20, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Gulfport, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Her final resting place will be at the Biloxi National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest at 2:30 PM.
Mary Elizabeth Pierson's kind spirit, devotion to family, and dedication to service will forever be remembered. She leaves behind a profound legacy of love and cherished memories that will guide and inspire her family for generations to come.
