Mary Verna Pates, age 85 and a life-long resident of Biloxi, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Pates was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Biloxi, where she was active in the choir, the Singing Christmas Tree and in the BeaconKeepers. She was an avid football fan, especially anything to do with Archie Manning and his family, and with Brett Favre.
She was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Pates was preceded in death by her husband, Frank G. Pates; parents, Ira and Corine Clark; brother, Dee Clark; sister, Ursula Giraud; and sister, Aline Gaines.
She is survived by her three sons, Frank Pates and wife, Mary of Mobile, John Pates and wife, Donna of Biloxi, and Kelly Pates and wife, Jean of Brandon; two sisters, Ruth Gussow and husband, Milton and Edna Fuller, all of Biloxi; and three grandchildren, Andrew Pates, Jeffery Pates and Crystal Pates Rendon.
Friends are invited to join the Pates family for visitation on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 from 12 Noon until the service at 2:00 p.m. at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
