Mary Lou Faircloth Murphy, 87, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in Gulfport. Mary and John were happily married and approaching their 70th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed returning to Alaska whenever possible. Mary Lou married John in 1945 and joined him where he was stationed in Roth, Germany. She accompanied him to many duty stations finally retiring in Biloxi in 1973. She served as President of the Sunkist Garden Club and has fed thousands of birds and squirrels over the years. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Junius Faircloth and Bertha Faircloth, and brother, James Faircloth.
She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. John R. Murphy, Jr., USAF, Ret. of Biloxi; sons, Richard Murphy (Ellen) of Arlington, TX, Jerome Murphy (Susan) of Dallas, Oregon, John R. Murphy, III of Brandon, MS; daughters, Mary Craig (Tim) of Seabrook, TX, Patricia Burkes (Ted) of Stafford, VA, Melody Wiltz (Thomas) of Biloxi, MS, and sister, Dorothy Roussell of Las Vegas, NV; many , many loving and precious grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi. A visitation will be held starting at 12:00 p.m. until service time Saturday.
