Mary Sue Grimsley Miller

October 25, 1941 — March 24, 2011

Mary Sue Grimsley Miller, age 69, died on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Herman Memorial Baptist Hospital in Texas. She resided in Orange, Texas, but was a lifelong resident of the MS Gulf Coast.
Mary was born on October, 25 1941, in Hattiesburg and was a graduate of Petal High School. Soon thereafter, she married her high school sweetheart, and in the 52 years of marriage, their family was extended by 5 children, 11 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren.
She proudly devoted over 20 years to her Civil Service career, assigned to units 738-EIS & 1839-EIG at Keesler Air Force Base of Biloxi. She retired with honors and received several prestigious awards, including The Eagle Award for Civil Servant of the Year for the Department of Defense. With her career at Keesler, she was able to travel not only the United States, but the world.
She was a born again Christian and a member of Bel-Aire Baptist Church in Gulfport. Mary loved to dance, tell jokes, and spend time with family & friends. Just by entering a room, she would brighten it with laughter and joy. This beautiful woman never met a stranger that didn't become her friend. All that knew her loved and admired her. Mary will be greatly missed and forever engraved in our hearts.
She is preceded in death by her husband, M. Wayne Miller; her parents, Trucilla & Hugh Grimsley; her sisters, Lucille Norris, Shirley Grimsley, Francis Grimsley, & Carmen Grimsley.
Mary is survived by her children, Deborah & Jimmie Keyes of Saucier, Kenneth Michael & Kelly Miller of Petal, Katherine Renee' Purcell of Gulfport, Rick Miller of Vidor, TX, and Pamela & Vernon Hill of Orange, TX her grandchildren, Stephanie, Kelly, Steven, Christopher, Kendall, Richie, Ashton, Kyle, Kelton, Katlyn, and Alex; her great grandchildren, Jade, Winter, Taylor, Peyton, Chase, Skylah, Shon, Zachery, Star, and Sarah Grace; her sister, June & Alton Kelly of Gulfport; her brothers, Daniel Grimsley, Elmer & Barbara Grimsley of Hattiesburg; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011, from 6pm-8pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 10am in the funeral home chapel, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Hattiesburg at 1 pm.
